Oxcis IV to VI – (Completion)

Medusa Stonemasonry is proud to have contributed its expertise to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS), delivering finely crafted stonemasonry work across several phases of the new study centre’s development. Each phase of this complex project reflects Medusa’s dedication to quality, heritage, and intricate craftsmanship throughout OCIS’s unique spaces.

Overview

In the multi-phase expansion of OCIS, Medusa stonemasons contributed extensively across varied spaces, including study areas, courtyards, dining rooms, and landscaped gardens. Phase IV saw Medusa preparing high-quality materials for installations such as the outbuildings, link corridors, and courtyards, with granite vanity tops and marble-clad washrooms. Phase V continued this commitment to excellence, featuring intricate work in the Yemen courtyard with paving and fountains, as well as refined marble flooring in the Directors’ residence. The final phase, Phase VI, highlighted Medusa’s expertise in the Prince of Wales garden with over forty metres of marble zig-zag water rills, ornate fountains, and traditional Indian Jali walls, all meticulously crafted to enhance the aesthetic and heritage of Islamic architecture.

During Phase IV, Medusa’s preparatory work ensured a smooth handover to the new contractor, with materials pre-cut and ready for immediate installation, supporting efficient progress through each subsequent phase.

In the final phase, Medusa’s exceptional skills were evident in the precision-cut water features that brought dynamic elegance to the Prince of Wales garden. Their expertise in stonemasonry added depth and serenity to the OCIS environment, merging natural stone elements with purposeful design.
